  You Can Make: Pencil Cases
 

What You Need:

Felt or other
fabric

Perle cotton
thread

Cotton thread

Needle & needlework pins

Scissors

Toggle or button plus cord for the fastening

Optional
for adding decoration:

Cord

Sticky back
felt

Beads

Sequins

Fab foam

Glitter glue

Pom poms

Marabou
feathers

You Can Make: Pencil Cases
     
     
    How To Make
         
   

1. Choose the material you think is best for making your pencil case.

2. Decide if you want one section, or two.

3. Cut out each paper templates (pencil case x 1; pocket x 2)

4. If two sections are wanted cut out divider.

5. Lay each template on your fabric.

6. Pin in place.

7. Cut out. Remove pins.

 
 
 
 
   
8. Sew pockets onto pencil case, using running stitch and perle cotton thread (before sewing check that pockets are in correct place. Use Diagram 1 as your guide.

9. If two sections are wanted, stitch divider just above the fold line, as shown in diagram 2.

10. Fold bottom third of pencil case up as shown in Diagram 3.

11. Sew up each end using running stitch and perle cotton thread as shown in Diagram 3.

12. Sew short loop of cord or perle thread onto underside of flap, using needle and cotton thread.

 

13. Add a decorative row of perle running stitch close to the edge, along flap of pencil case.

14. Create design for decorating pencil case.

15. Decorate finished pencil case.

One of our pencil cases has been finished with stars cut from sticky back felt.
