1) Write out the nine letter word hidden in the grid.

2) Find as many 3, 4, 5 and 6 letter words as you can in this nine letter word:

Score 1 point for every 3 letter word
Score 2 points for every 4 letter word
Score 3 points for every 5 letter word

Halloween 'Hot Seat'
     

Children take it in turns to ‘hot seat’, wearing a mask and answer questions about Halloween and their particular role, in character. Children could give themselves a name and brief family history if they wish.

Halloween Brainstorm
     

1) Brainstorm a list of words and phrases associated with Halloween.

2) Write out a set of similes or metaphors involving Halloween/witches/evil spirits.

3) Select one of the items (mask etc.), reproduce it as a drawing and surround it with appropriate phrases – e.g. ‘frightened out of one’s life’, ‘jumped out of his skin’, ‘a bat out of hell’.
