    How To Make

Here are some mosaic patterns that we have created. When you create a decorated picture you may like to use some of these ideas, BUT you must use some of your own as well. You do not have to use these patterns, but they may give you some ideas.

We have made:

1. Decide on the design of your product:

• Will you make a tile or a wall picture/hanging? (If working at school your teacher may guide you).

• Will it be A4 or square?

• What will form the background for your egg?

2. Sketch out your design and work out the size of your mosaic tile pieces.

3. Choose materials. Think carefully about how they will look on the background you have chosen.

4. Cut up mosaic pieces. What size will they be? Will all pieces be square? Our patterns have been made using 1cm and 2cm squares. You may find that 5mm x 5mm is better for part of your mosaic.

5. Draw design onto 'egg' outline background.

6. Glue mosaic pieces on to drawn design using PVA glue. Start with the 'egg' and then add the background.

NB If using a fabric base use fabric glue.

7. Leave to dry.
