  You Can Make: Sun Safe Model
 

What You Need:

For the body model:

Template

Thick card

Scissors

PVA glue &
Fabric glue

Pencil and ruler

Stick on tape Velcro

Optional:

Air dry clay or similar

For the clothes
& accessories:

Coloured card or paper

Patterned paper
& card - metallic and holographic

Felt

Fab foam

Sparkle foam

Fabric

Wool & ribbons

Colouring pens
& pencils

Acrylic paint

Chenille stems

Plus any other appropriate available items.

    How To Make
         
   

Designing:

Think about the weather in summer.

Talk with your teacher and other children about what may happen if you stay in the sun too long.

Can you make some clothes that would mean you could stay in the sun longer?

Think about how they would look.

Draw some pictures of your ideas. Try to use labels in your pictures.

   
   

Making - your model:

Diagram of model standing upright1. Use the templates to draw your model pieces on thick card.

2. Cut out the model and adjoining stand.

3. Fold either end of the rectangular stand inwards, along the dotted lines.

4. Stand model.

5. Ask your teacher if you should colour the model.

   
   
Making - the clothes & accessories:

1. Look at clothes and accessories templates.

2. Choose the clothes and accessories you want.

3. Cut out chosen clothes and accessories templates.

4. Choose the materials you want to use.

5. Place templates on chosen material (ask your teacher to help.)

6. Cut out shapes.

7. Add decorations to shapes if needed.

Choose 1 or 2:

1. Hold clothes on model and fold and glue tabs to back.

2. Stick Velcro to clothes/accessories and model, then attach.
