Key Stage1: Weather
Follow Up Activities

1) If children take home the finished products they can work with parents to keep a daily record of the weather.

(Literacy: Writing + Geography 1b, 1d, 2a, 2b)

Parents could be given a simple set of instructions to assist with this and their discussions with their children. This might include a list of desired vocabulary and a few notes on how the task links with other curriculum objectives.

Children could maintain a weather record for just a week or for a longer period.

2) Children could be given opportunities to discuss or report to the class their version of the weather recorded for the previous day. This could simply be a brief report at morning registration or at an alternative set time. As well as keeping the weather theme in the children's minds it also provides an opportunity for developing speaking and listening skills.

(English: Speaking & Listening).

3) A design element could be added to this task by providing opportunities for children to select colours of their own; to add their own decoration to the kite or by getting them to replace one of the given designs with one of their own.

(Design & Technology: 1a, 1b, 1c, 1d, 2a, 2b, 2d, 2e).
