Cost: £20 per session
This is an introduction to English patchwork, a hand-sewn technique using foundation papers.
12.03.15 - We will be looking at hexagons with a little history followed by the showing of samples and completed work along with general photos of my Diploma submissions and other work. Hexagon drafting instructions, foundation papers, sampling fabric and sewing thread will be provided.
19.03.15 - We will concentrate on tumbling blocks or baby blocks with the showing of samples. Tumbling blocks drafting instructions, foundation papers, sampling fabric and sewing thread will be provided.
26.03.15 - We will look at tessellations - which also require foundation papers. A demonstration will be given before you create your own. There will also be a discussion, with samples, about wadding, backing fabric, quilting in the ditch and binding a quilted piece.
I hold a City and Guilds Patchwork and Quilting Diploma. I also have a BA and MA in Textiles (weaving).
Each student should bring a notebook, pencil, ruler, tacking thread, sewing needles and small scissors to class.
