A Stitch in Time... Your Chance to Sew The City of Chelmsford Tapestry
Date : July 24, 2014 to July 24, 2015
Time : 10:30-16:30
Suitable for : Adults & Children
To celebrate Chelmsford achieving city status, Hobbycraft and Coats (UK) Ltd are sponsoring the creation of the city's very own Tapestry.
- We ran a competition to design the Tapestry and Chris Rhodes' design won. Above is a picture of the start of the stitching of the Tapestry, featuring local MP Simon Burns and members of our Knit & Natter Group.
- Our wonderful Knit & Natter Group have volunteered to oversee the stitching.
- Everyone is invited to come to the store to stitch the Tapestry - don't worry if you have never sewn a stitch, there will be a short tutorial with our volunteers to ensure that the stitching is consistent.
- A commemorative book will go with the Tapestry - giving those sewing the chance to add their name and comments about Chelmsford and sewing the Tapestry. The book and the completed Tapestry will be donated to the City of Chelmsford, thus becoming part of the history of the new City.
If you or your group would like to take part then please email email@example.com with your contact details and a prefered time and we will endeavour to arrange a supervised sewing session.
This is your chance to become part of the living history of The City of Chelmsford.
