How to make it
How to make it
- For Chopstick's head, carefully separate the top and bottom of an egg box using scissors. Cut the top of the egg box in half and discard one piece. Paint all over with gold acrylic and leave to dry.
- Line up the dry egg box pieces so that the bottom half of the egg box forms Chopstick's upper face and nose and the bottom is the jaw. Staple a small rubber band to the back inside edge of Chopstick's lower jaw on both sides. Staple the same rubber bands to the upper jaw directly above to make the jaw hinged.
- Paint two polystyrene balls with gold acrylic and leave to dry for Chopstick's eyes. Repeat if needed.
- Once dry, place the eyes on the head and carefully push a safety dress-making pin through from underneath, fixing them on. Use a small amount of PVA craft glue to keep the eyes in place and leave to dry.
- Cut out two circles from a green foam sheet and use a permanent marker to draw a dot in the middle for pupils. Use double-sided tape to fixthe pupils to the eyes and give Chopstick's two red-feather eyebrows.
- For Chopstick's fiery tail, draw an A5 flame-shape on to a pizza box lid (or equivalent) and carefully use scissors to cut it out. Paint it with gold acrylic and leave to dry.
- For flame effect inside the tail, draw two slightly smaller flame-shapes on red and yellow felt and carefully cut them out. Fix them on top of each other and then the gold cardboard flame with double-sided tape. Use a red craft feather for added effect.
- Use double-sided tape to fix the flame to the top of a 45cm wooden stick and form Chopstick's tail. Wrap a piece of felt around the stick to form a comfortable handle and fix in place with double-sided tape.
- For Chopstick's body, lay out a red tea towel on a covered surface. Paint a dragon-scale pattern onto it using gold acrylic and leave to dry.
- Draw small leaf shapes on green foam and cut around them using scissors. Use PVA craft glue to fixone inside each dragon scale.
- When the scales are dry, staple the edge of the tea towel to the top-half of the back of Chopstick's head.
- Bunch the other end of the tea towel together around the sick that forms Chopstick's tale and fix securely with a rubber band.
