Every sewing basket needs this elastic
You know when you buy a pair of great trousers that fit everywhere except around your waist? It’s so frustrating! Belts can do the job, but better than that is to make the trousers fit you. Simply cut a couple of slits on the inside and back of the waistband, 6 inches apart. Feed some chunky elastic through the gap that you made, and securely sew the elastic onto the waistband at one end. Pull the elastic so that it gently gathers the waistband to fit you, and securely sew the other end of the elastic onto your waistband. Hey presto, you’ve customised your trousers, they fit and no more fiddly belts.

Perfect width for my skirt
So there I was with my beautiful new black and pink skirt almost finished when I realised a white elastic might show through on the waist band... pop down to hobbycraft and brilliant they had a range of black elastic and this one was a nice comfy width for my skirt.

Very stretchy but firm
I bought this for making masks during the covid pandemic and it is firm but stretchy so is quite good for its purpose of going around the head, I cut it down the middle and appears easy to cut but hard to rip

Just what I needed
My fiancé trousers were too big but the next size down is too small, so I brought the elastic threaded it through the waist band and they now fit in perfectly :) thanks hobbycraft for a good price too

New making trousers
Good quality product and reasonable price. There was no white left (my preferred choice) in store when I visited but these don't seem to be visible through the fabric once sewn in place.

Does the job
It is a good quality elastic but be aware that it is only stretchy in one direction so is perfect for trousers etc. Not useful for intended use but has come to good use regardless
