Nativity Tree Hangings

  How To Make

1. Knead the Fimo until soft. Using the Fimo colour for the body, form a solid cone shape. Roll two sausage shapes in the same colour for the arms and press onto the top of the cone.

2. For the head and hands, roll one large and two small ball shapes in the skin colour Fimo. Press the hands onto the end of the arms and place the head on top of the body. To strengthen the neck, place part of a cocktail stick inside the top of the body and place the head onto the spike, pressing it down so that it joins securely to the body.

3. Use a cocktail stick to draw the eyes and smile on to the face.

4. Finishing touches:

JOSEPH

Press flat a small piece of Fimo the same colour as the body and place over the top of the head as a head-dress. Roll a thin sausage shape in a contrasting colour of Fimo and wrap around the head as the headband.

MARY & BABY JESUS

Repeat as for Joseph to make the head-dress. Form a small sausage shape of skin colour Fimo and wrap a flat piece of white Fimo around the shape to wrap the baby, leaving a small circle of skin colour showing for the face. Use a cocktail stick to draw the face. Press the baby onto the front of Mary and wrap her arms around it so that she is holding it.

SHEPHERD

Repeat as for Joseph to make the head-dress. Roll out a sausage shape in brown Fimo to make the shepherd's crook, hooking it over at the top. Press the crook onto the shepherd's hand and body.

KING

Press flat a small circle of Fimo in the colour for the hair and press in place. Roll flat a strip of gold Fimo and cut a zig-zag along one edge. Wrap this around the top of the head to make the crown. Press a small piece of gold Fimo into a cube and press into the King's hands.

ANGEL

Press flat a circle of Fimo for the hair and press on to the top of the head. Roll out a small sausage shape in gold Fimo for the halo and wrap around the top of the head. Form two wing shapes in gold Fimo and press onto the back of the angel.

5. Place the models on kitchen foil on a baking tray. Bake for twenty minutes at 120ºC. Once cool, varnish with Fimo gloss varnish.

Handy Tip Tip: These nativity figures can be used as cake decorations or Christmas tree decorations. For tree decorations, make a hole through the middle of the Fimo with a cocktail stick before baking. When cool, thread through a piece of gold thread for the hanger.
