1. Ensure you have a draught, dust free area in which to work. 2. Before painting remove any grease or film from your vase with a solvent like white spirit. 3. Choose the design you wish to achieve. Either draw your own design or trace your chosen design onto tracing paper. 4. When you are satisfied with the design, roll the tracing paper and slip it into the vase. Trace the outline directly onto the glass using the Cerne Relief Liner from the tube. Allow to dry for about 20 minutes. 5. With the paintbrush, fill in your pattern with your chosen colours. Any colour which overruns the liner can be carefully wiped off immediately with a dampened cotton bud. 6. To obtain more pastel tints or opaque colours mix with a little white. It can be difficult to reproduce colours you mix yourself, so it is a good idea to keep your mixes in sealed containers to prevent drying out. 7. Once you have finished painting your pattern, leave to dry for twelve hours. You can now paint the remainder of the vase using the matt varnish. This will create a frosted look to the unpainted glass. 8. Allow the finished vase to dry for twenty-four hours. The vase can be lightly washed with warm soapy water.
