Beaded Bridal Garter

  How To Make

1. With right sides facing up, pin 1m of the light orchid ribbon down the centre of the opal ribbon. Machine stitch very close to both edges of the light orchid ribbon.

2. Secure a length of thread to one edge of the opal ribbon. Work along the edge of the ribbon adding a lilac and crystal bead alternately every 5mm. You can use the pattern on the ribbon as a guide.

3. Add beads along the other edge of the opal ribbon to match. Thread the elastic under the light orchid ribbon. Pin the end and then pull up the elastic until the garter is the required length and pin.

4. Sew the ends to secure the elastic. Steam press the gathered ribbon lightly on the right side. This 'sets' the gathers and prevents the garter from twisting.

5. Sew the ends of the garter together and trim the seam allowance to 5mm. Buttonhole stitch the raw edges on the inside.

6. Tie a ribbon bow with the remaining light orchid ribbon and sew in place over the join.
