Chimneys & Sleigh Game

  How To Make

Making the Board

1. Cut an A1 mount board in half to form two A2 pieces. Taking one A2 piece, with the board in landscape position, score vertically on the reverse down the centre - this will allow the game to be closed for safe & tidy storage.

2. Take one 'hook' & one 'loop' Stick On Coin and stick them centrally at either end of the board so that it can be folded and secured shut.

Making the Grid

3. Use a pencil to draw a grid, six squares across and five squares up. Go over the grid with glitter glue and allow to dry.

4. Number each square in the grid in a zig zag motion using number stickers or a marker pen.
Stick a 'loop' Velcro coin in the centre of each square.

Making the Chimneys and sleighs

5. Cut shapes out of coloured card to form chimneys and sleighs and decorate them with stickers and glitter. Draw in the bricks using a black pen & ruler.

6. Stick the chimneys in place between squares: 1 & 12, 4 & 16, 20 and 29 using hook & loop Velcro coins to give a 3D effect.

7. Stick the sleighs in squares 18, 24 and 28.
Use star stickers to make a trail of stars diagonally from 8 to 18, 10 to 24 and 22 to 28.

The Finishing Touch

8. Make some playing counters by cutting festive shapes out of coloured card and paper and stick 'hook' Velcro coins to the reverse.

9. Use 'loop' coins to secure counters at the top of the board ready for play - also great for storing.

10. Cut a tree shape out of metallic paper and stick it in the winning spot at the top of the grid using the glitter glue - don't forget to give it a number and decorate as necessary.

Hang it or carry it

11. Cut two lengths of ribbon and stick them to the back of the board at the top and bottom.

To play the game

Either hang the game on the wall or carry the game with you. Roll a dice and the highest number starts. If you land on a chimney, down you must go - if you land on a square containing stars, follows the stars up to the sleigh.

Handy Tip Tip: Why not use card toppers or old Christmas cards to make your own counters e.g. Santa, Elf, Fairy, Rudolph etc.
