Alternatively, copy the design onto tracing paper. Place a piece of dressmakers carbon paper face down onto the fabric and place the tracing on top of that. Tape the edges and go over the traced lines with a biro or ball tool. Press quite hard and the pattern will transfer.
3. Place a piece of plastic underneath the
fabric. Begin painting in the centre of
the design, working out towards the
edges, using the picture as a guide.
4. The dots of colour on the leaves and
along the bottom of the elephants
blanket and the pattern on the blanket
are simply made using a cotton bud.
Dip the end of a cotton bud in the paint
and press it lightly onto the fabric. When
the design is complete, leave to dry.
5. Fix a metal nib to a tube of Silver Touch
three dimensional paint. To do this wrap
the nozzle on the tube with a small piece
of cling film and screw on the metal nib.
6. Outline the design with silver paint to add
detail, pattern and texture. Tip: Wipe
the nozzle frequently with paper towel to
keep a clean line.
7. Use the same Silver Touch paint to add a
faceted stone in each corner of the
design and leave the finished project to
dry for a further 12 hours.
8. Iron the design on the reverse for 5
minutes with a domestic iron on a medium
setting or put it in a domestic oven for 5
minutes at 150 degrees centigrade.
9. Cut out 2 back pieces of white fabric
and iron a crease down the fold line of
each. Match up the centre back notches
and pin together. Pin the back and front
right sides together and leaving ½" seam
allowance, machine stitch or hand sew
around all four sides. Cut the seam
allowance down across each corner close
to the stitching and machine zig- zag or
hand over sew the raw edges together.
10. Turn the cushion cover the right way out
and press the seams. Stick 3 x 1" pieces
of self adhesive Velcro fastening along
the centre back opening.
