Glass Painted Lantern

  How To Make

EASTERN THEME LANTERN

1. Clean the glass panels of your lantern with methylated spirits.

2. Paint every alternate panel with Bengal pink, applying the paint generously so that it settles flat. Leave to dry.

3. Paint the remaining panels with Amaranthine. Leave to dry.

4. Using the gold outliner, decorate the lantern with stars, swirls and dots.

5. Leave to dry for 24 hours before baking.

BAKING INSTRUCTIONS

SAFETY FIRST: Please ensure that your lantern can withstand the baking temperature.

Place your lantern on a baking sheet into a cold oven. Preheat the oven to 160ºC / gas mark 3. When the oven reaches this temperature, bake for 40 minutes and then turn the oven off. Open the oven door slightly to allow the item to cool slowly. Do not remove the lantern from the oven until it has cooled. Always wear protective handwear such as oven gloves during this baking process.

NB: If your lanterns cannot withstand being baked they can still be decorated according the the instructions and not baked. However, the finish may not be as durable.

PINK AND SILVER FROSTED LANTERN

1. Clean the glass panels of your lantern with methylated spirits.

2. Paint every alternate panel with Pebeo Vitrea 160 frosted pink paint and leave to dry until it appears frosted.

3. Sponge the metal areas with frosted pink paint.

4. Use the Pewter outliner to decorate your lantern.

5. Leave for 24 hours to dry before baking as described above.
