Papier mache over plastic. Not what I was expecting.
I am a papier-mache sculptor, and I bought this to use as a base for a more elaborate papier-mache sculpt, thinking I could save myself some work. However, when I soaked it in water to soften it so that it could be re-shaped, it turned out to be a thin layer of brown paper, pasted over a plastic mask shape, not papier-mache at all. This should be made clear in the product description as it is very misleading. I couldn't use this and made my own base shape instead (which worked out better for me).

Lovely product
This is an amazing product and it was amazing project to work on. Strong, sturdy and great value for money. Will be buying again for varying projects. Good size and easy to work with, it takes a good amount of glue, paint, glitter etc without becoming soggy and unworkable.

Paper mache mask
High quality paper mache mask used as a base for a homemade World Book Day mask. This is the second time I’ve bought this product and it’s durable, fits a child comfortably and perfect for the job. Would recommend.

lovely, good value, robust
I bought this for my 6 yr old, who drew on a design in pencil, and then painted it with Hobbycraft ready mixed paint, and painted her wooden sword at the same time to match. It makes a wonderful "musketeer" outfit! Fits her face perfectly, and looks adorable too. It seems very durable and I am sure it will last well through a lot of playing.

This product did what I needed of it.
I needed this product for a fancy dress competition and it did what I needed. It seemed to be of a good quality and even when it got wet it didn’t fall the pieces. Another notable feature was that this product was relatively inexpensive. If I ever need another one I’ll come back to Hobbycraft.

Easy to create own designs
This item was perfect to create the halloween mask my daughter had her heart set on. Took paint easily, strong base so didn't lose its shape and fitted well meaning she could have a unique design she had created herself.

Brillient!
These are such great masks! They are made of card, very strongly made. My 3 and 5 year old enjoyed colouring, painting and sticking things to these masks! They are lasting well and my kids are happy being superheroes!
