Needs a disc of felt to stop it spinning
The large reel of thread is significantly better value for money than the smaller versions, but it is too big for the standard felt disc that sits under the reel on top of a typical sewing machine. I never noticed that the felt disc stops the reel from continuing to spin when you stop sewing. Until I worked out what was happening and added a larger felt disc, the tension was getting messed up on my machine - either spinning and getting slack, or getting tangled under the reel and becoming much too tight. I asked a haberdashery assistant about using a larger reel on my machine before making the purchase and they didn't warn me about this issue, which could easily have been prevented. Possibly some training needed?

Found this great priced,great Value black tread,which comes in so many colours.
Strong tread,does not fray when using it especially when using in a sewing machine.
So much better to pay a little more to get the write/best product for the job in hand.
Staff were very pleasant at the till.
Was going to join hobby craft membership,seems I'm already a member.
Really happy customer,will be popping into hobby craft again,seen some beauty tread that mixed colours in one line of tread..

Gütermann thread has lasting strength
Making a quilt for my grandson made me think only of Gütermann thread. I wanted the best thread for this quilt. I was embroidering on my Bernina and not once did the thread fray, break, snap or knot. I never use any other thread. I want to enjoy quilting and embroidering and I know that this thread is definitely the reason why I do.

Good quality thread, good value!
I am a fan of Gutermann thread, and am so pleased that Hobbycraft stock this brand. It is a good quality universal thread, great for patchwork and piecing, and dressmaking, general repairs, and doesn't fluff up your machine, great for handsewing as well. Recommended.

Best thread
Whenever in Hobbycraft and the thread is on 3 for 2 I make sure to stock up on the 1000m Guterman, it's my go to thread for everything and have yet to have it ever break!
Black & White Thread are so versatile no matter what you're sewing :)

Does what it says on the spool
This thread is exactly what I wanted. Black thread that I can use to make anything. I made a stretch top and with organic cotton. Worked perfectly! Love that with this size of thread, I won’t have to worry about buying again for a while!

Best quality thread
I bought this thread as I know it is a very smooth sewing thread and I bought it to sew a difficult fabric. However I don't particularly like the size of the spool (it is far too fat) as the thread snagged in my machine

Excellent thread
I've been having so much trouble lately with the tension on machine. After making frequent alterations and replacing the needle, it turns out that I needed a better quality thread. This worked perfectly
