I just can’t get enough of the beautiful animal and flora and fauna illustrations that are popping up all over the place at the moment!
There has been a massive rise in popularity in colouring books, perfect for those who aren’t confident illustrators (myself included!), and also great for relaxing the mind and escaping into your own little world for a few hours.
There are lots of books with illustrations of varying states of intricacy, and Millie Marotta’s beautiful illustrations are no exception!

Millie grew up in rural Wales surrounded by all kinds of plants and animals, she now works from her studio by the sea and draws inspiration from all of the wonderful wildlife that surrounds her, which is represented beautifully in her illustrations, from elephants to bunny rabbits, jellyfish to owls you’ll be hard to find an animal that has not been represented, all drawn with absolute precision using just a fine liner pen.
My illustrations usually begin as quite simple but realistic drawings of the creature. I keep the general form of the animal relatively true to life but will begin to elaborate with lots of intricate patterning and detail.
