How to make

You will also need:

* Cricut Design Space app installed on a laptop, PC, tablet or mobile device

* Rotary Blade that comes with the Cricut Maker or, if using the Air 2, use the pink Bonded Fabric Grip Blade

Step 1

Open up the project -  https://design.cricut.com/landing/project-detail/5f4e24057a7b15107c8068b2 - in the browser version of Cricut Design Space.

If you want to design your own advent calendar, create a template of 24 rectangles and add images and numbers to create your desired design.

Step 2

Lay the first sheet of iron-on vinyl face-down onto the LightGrip cutting mat. Make sure that all of your images have been mirrored in Design Space before loading the mat into the machine.

Select iron-on-on vinyl as the material you would like to cut and start cutting.

Once the cut is complete, repeat the above steps for each sheet of iron-on until all the whole project is cut.

Step 3

Next, weed all of the iron-on sheets by removing all of the iron-on elements you don't want to transfer to the fabric advent, leaving only the designs you want to transfer on the clear carrier sheet.

Once weeded, cut around all of the individual pieces.

Step 4

Take all of the individual pieces and lay the base layer pieces down onto the fabric advent calendar blank.

Each layer of iron-on vinyl needs to be pressed individually, so make sure that only the first layer of iron-on-on is laid out ready to be pressed.

Step 5

Press each of the pockets using the EasyPress Mini. Wait for them to cool before peeling off the carrier sheet.

Step 6

Place the next layer of iron-on vinyl and press once more. As soon as this layer has cooled and the carrier sheet removed, continue with the next layers.

Step 7

Next, it's time to cut the felt shapes. Lay the felt onto the mat and make sure it is secure on the FabricGrip Cutting Mat using the brayer tool. Insert the mat into the machine.

Choose the felt setting and start cutting.

Once the pieces are cut, remove the shapes from your mat.

Step 8

Cut lengths of neon ribbon, then tie all of the ends into a knot.

Step 9

Glue the felt shapes to the ribbon lengths at random intervals using a glue gun to secure the shapes on both the front and back of the ribbon.

Step 10

Sew the ribbon cluster onto the advent calendar on the top right-hand side.

Glue on a felt star over the top of the stitches to complete your advent calendar.
