Use a small piece of washi tape, or other low-tack tape to hold your die in place when cutting.
Begin by cutting a piece of cream card to 4 ½ x 4 ½ inches. Die cut your background from a slightly bigger piece of orange card.
Attach the orange die cut to your cream card so that it creates a diamond shape. Carefully fold the edges over and adhere to the back of the card with tape.
Mount your cream card onto a slightly bigger piece of card in the same shade of orange as the die cut. Mount this onto a white card blank, trimmed to the same size as the orange mount card.
Then, cut or die cut a heart from tracing paper or vellum, the Intricut bee from black card, and the body of the bee in yellow card. Cutting the bee in both black and yellow will give you all the pieces you need to do a die cut inlay technique.
Fixing the double-sided tape behind the bee’s body will ensure your adhesive isn’t visible on your finished card.
Attach the black bee die cut to your heart using small dabs of tacky glue on the bee’s body. Then inlay the yellow die cut pieces into the bee’s body, using a small amount of glue. Attach the heart to your main card using a piece of double-sided tape.
Using an alphabet stamp set and black ink, create your sentiment on a thin strip of orange card. Once the ink has dried, attach to the front of your card.
Adaptations: Why not use a different punny sentiment for a different occasion? Here are a few of my favourites…
– Hey honey
– You’re the bee’s knees
– Don’t worry, Bee happy
– You’re unBEElieveable
– Swarm wishes
– Bee Yourself
