Project and how-to make instructions by Emma Jones

If you've decided to make your own DIY advent calendar this year, the We R Memory Keepers 123 Punch Board is a must have, and makes creating the 24 boxes for this project super-quick and easy.

I LOVE the Christmas Tales collection, it's very nostalgic and it worked perfectly with my advent idea, there are also lots of different components that can be sued when it comes to decorating. This project can be replicated with any papercraft collection you like if you wanted a different look.

How to make

Step-1

Follow the guide within the We R Memory Keepers 123 punch board packaging to create the 24 boxes. There is a great sticker included within the packaging that provides centimetre measurements rather than inches if, like me, you prefer working in metric units.

Once each of the boxes have been cut, it's time to construct them. When constructing you don't have to glue anything in place, however to be on the safe side I used double-sided to secure the inside flaps, as it gave a neater finish and gives the sides a bit more structure, you could use tacky glue.

Step-2

Within the Christmas Tales colelction there are so many different pieces to choose from when it comes to decorating each of the advent boxes. Each of mine was decorated differently, however I kept the number in the same place on each, making the boxes easier to spot when looking for them on the relevent day.

Step-3

Next, it's time to create some bows to add to some of the advent boxes using the 123 punch board.

After constructing the bows I used a glue stick on the edges of each and dipped them into silver glitter- the perfect finishing touch!

Tip Tip: If you are using paper that has a design on just one side, why not cut out two bow pieces, either using the same or contrasting paper, and securing the wrong side of the pieces together.

Step-4

To make this advent a real statement feature in your home use a dowel to hang the boxes. Using double-sided tape, wrap the dowel in a complimantary paper from the paper pack.

Use red/white twine to hanf each of the boxes from the dowel.

Top Tip: If you prefer you could also paint the dowel using craft paint.
