We don't have a very traditional Christmas in our house and our Christmas tree gets covered with lots of different decorations, so I thought it would be nice to send a card that doubles as a decoration. This one is very easy, however you can make it as complicated as you like!

This project is great for getting children involved with, each decoration can be made truly one-of-a-kind with stickers and toppers galore.

How to make

Step 1

Take a 6 x 6″ card and envelope cover with a panel of green cardstock measuring 14.5 x 14.5cm.

Step 2

Using the same green cardstock, fussy-cut four leaf shapes to sit in each corner of the card. Glue these into place using a glue pen.

Step 3

Secure two small white pegs centrally to the top of the card, these will be used to hold the decoration in place.

Step 4

Hand draw a bauble shape and cut out using a pair of scissors of craft knife. Add a hole to the top of the decoration using a hole punch.

Step 5

Use a pencil to divide the bauble shape into three sections.

Step 6

Use cardstock, stickers, toppers and die-cuts to decorate the bauble. I used the Christmas tree die to add trees to the bottom of the bauble using a brighter shade of green. I then cut two thin curved strips in the same dark green card used to cover the card blank, to create three clear 'sections'. I then added the wooden toppers which come with a handy sticky pad on the back which is great for giving your bauble a little dimension.

Step 7

A white gel pen is ideal for adding hand drawn illustrative elements, I used it to add snow to the bottom section of my bauble decoration.

Step 8

A tree decoration wouldn't be complete without a little glitter! To add fine details to your bauble use a glue pen to draw elements and then sprinkle over the glitter. Wait a few seconds for the glitter and glue to set and then tap off the excess, leave to dry.

Step 9

Thread twine through the hole at the top of the bauble before clipping the completed bauble in place.

Step 10

The sky's the limit when it comes to decorating your bauble, create different sizes, incorporate lots of colour, add a brush lettered greeting, anything goes!
