How to Make a Paper Flower Wreath

Difficulty Beginner
Budget £10 - £30
Time 1/2 day +

So, I thought I would do something for Mother's Day that my son could make with a helping hand... I love flowers, as I am sure most of us do, so I wanted to incorporate paper flowers somehow. I thought I would have a go at making some that you could hang up on the wall (they'd also make a great present topper!). I have chosen very bright colours which might not be everyone's cup of tea but I love clashing colours and pink - however, you can chose any colour you like!

How to make

Step 1

Use different sized bowls and circular objects from around your home to draw circles on your chosen sheets of coloured cardstock. Mark fine lines on the biggest flower with the fine detail tool from the Sizzix Papercrafting tool set to add texture.

Step 2

Freehand cut out other flowers shapes using a pair of scissors or a craft knife.

Step 3

In the centre of each cut flower place a 5p piece and draw around it lightly with a pencil. Use this pencil line as a guide when cutting into the cardstock from the outside edge.

Step 4

To create dimension within the paper flowers use the ball tool and rub in a circular motion in the centre of the flower. As you do this the flower will begin to form a cupped shape and become more three dimensional. The more you work the paper with the ball tool the more 3D it will become. Once all of the layers are complete use an Intricut glue pen to adhere the layers together.

Step 5

Secure the flowers to the embroidery hoop using a hot melt glue gun.

Step 6

To add a little bot of glitz to your design, use the glue pen to randomly add glue to the paper flowers then sprinkle with golder glitter. Tap off any excess then leave to one side to dry.
