Intricut Christmas Penguin Die Set
Trim down a card blank to measure 11.5 x 15.5 cm. Mat this with a sheet of Frozen Wishes patterned paper, leaving a small white border.
Create the paper-pieced penguin by first die-cutting it from a sheet of dark grey cardstock. Use this to fussy cut a backing piece from white card. Then carefully cut out the face area from the grey piece.
Die-cut a new face from white card and trim to fit. Die-cut some bright orange feet and a beak. Also die-cut some black eyes and pale pink cheeks. Lastly die cut the penguin from a very pale blue coloured cardstock and leave all the waste bits in the die.
To add all the pale blue waste pieces, simply place the die containing the cut remnants down over the penguin, and poke out all the bits to drop them in place.
Now that all the penguin elements are cut, begin to paper-piece them together by applying glue from a glue stick to the backing piece. Secure the grey body piece first, then the face, beak and eyes.
Die-cut three snowflakes from glitter card, and set aside for the time being. Secure the orange feet to the backing piece of card using tacky glue if needed. Die-cut the bow tie from white card and the same orange as the penguin’s feet. Colour the bow tie blue using the Pastel Artiste dual-tip marker set. Fussy-cut a tiny circle to back the bow tie knot so that the tiny orange stripes can be paper-pieced. Glue this into place on the penguin using tacky glue.
Cut out a white shaker frame from card measuring 10.5 x 14.5cm. Remove the centre area to leave an 11 mm thick frame. Cut a piece of acetate to match slightly smaller than the frame outer edge. Glue in place.
From a piece of glitter card, fussy cut the bottom half of the snowy background. Start with a rectangular shape of 9.5 x 6.5cm, then create the top curve by cutting into the top edge. Glue this in place using tacky glue.
Build up the shaker area by applying strips of adhesive foam trimmed to 9mm wide, remove any excess foam with a sharp pair of scissors. When securing the strips ensure there are no tiny gaps for your shaker contents to escape through.
Add some of the ice crystal glitter to the centre of the card front before fixing the frame in place.
Use a stamping platform for creating the caption, to give a double stamped two tone effect. Colour the whole stamp with ink from the Artiste dual-tip marker before stamping it onto white card. Repeat the process until the ‘Merry’ word looks lightly covered. Apply more ink to the ‘Christmas’ word only for a few times to get a deeper colour.
Trim down the stamped caption and add adhesive 3D foam pads to the reverse. Fix into place on the card front over the shaker frame.
