How to make

Step 1

Trim an A5 card blank down to 13.5 x 19cm. Cover with a piece of champagne glitter cardstock trimmed to the same size, then mount a 13 x 18.5cm piece of pinky-red watercoloured patterned paper on top.

Step 2

Trim the front from another card blank to 12 x 17.5cm to create the panel for the flamingo die cuts to sit on. Fix onto the patterned paper using 3D foam tape.

Step 3

Paper-piece the flamingos, by die cutting them in pale pink and gluing their bodies onto another piece of pale pink card. Die cut them again using a brighter pink card, and using the fine waste bits to replace back into the gaps in the flamingo’s body. Die cut the head area in white card to add white beaks to the birds, and again using black card for the eyes. Fussy-cut the birds from the backing card to finish.

Step 4

Paper-piece three flowers and one extra leaf to decorate the base of the card. First die cut the flower in bright pink and snip off the leaf. Die cut again in dark green and snip off the flower. Die cut again in light green to keep the loose inner section. Die cut again in pale pink to use the loose petal bits. Lastly die cut in black to use the tiny stamen dots. Spread glue from a glue stick over a piece of white card, and quickly place down all the elements to paper piece the flower and leaf. Fussy-cut the flower from the backing paper once the glue is completely dry.

Step 5

Glue the spare leaf onto the back of one of the flowers. Add a couple of 3D foam pads to the underside of the flowers and fix them onto the card arranging them underneth the flamingos in a slight curver. Use the flower with the double leaf in the centre.

Top tip!

When paper-piecing the flowers, add the black stamen dots last. Leave them held within the die, turn the die cutting side down over the flower, matching up the design exactly. Then with a craft knife or sharp tool, poke the dots out of the die, and they will drop more or less into the required position.

Step 6

Add 3D foam pads to the underside of the flamingos. Cut the foam pads into tiny bits using a craft knife to support the knees and feet of the birds. Fix to the front of the card so the flamingos are standing within the flowers.
