Great product, could do with some improvements
Really love using this product in my artwork. Great finish, however I feel that they could have included more information on use of the product. My heart initially sank as I thought it was just gold foil, however by mistake and with gilding paste on hands when handling, I saw that it wasn't gold foil and the gold comes away from the clear plastic top. I was so relieved!
The gold looks great when applied however there were some patches where it didn't take to the gilding paste despite me following instructions. Additionally it was quite a shiny gold, so I used a semi hard brush to take some of the shine effect away and make it look more expensive. Not sure if they do a non- mirror effect?

Highly reflective - when it sticks!
These sheets are a useful size and weight and are extremely shiny. I use bits of them to add a finish to Klimt inspired clay tiles that I make. Be warned - I tried using them with a range of adhesives incl PVA etc but it did not work. It really does need their own brand recommended adhesive. As I am sticking the pieces of gold foil to uneven clay surfaces, it doesn't stick totally or uniformly. It may do so on more flat or smooth surfaces. However, I like the effect.

Beautiful shimmer
Was very happy when I found gold leaf effect in your store making it very convient as your not to far to travel to. This product is great, with an amazing effect and glimmer. However it is a little time consuming with having to wait a long time before you can put the effect on. Was very excited when I first used it but was a little disappointed with the outcome as it didn't all stick to the relief even when more pressure was applied as stated in the products video.
Would be great if you had loose gold leaves too.

Must buy Gilding paste to go with this product!
I bought these metallic effect papers 'cos they were on the sale and yes, they are okay to use (not as good as actual gold leaf, which in any case is very expensive. But they did not include the gilding paste in the display and I forgot to buy it - so had to go back. you can't really use the metallic effect papers without some kind of bonder (gilding paste). You need to use a lot of force rubbing the papers to get an even distribution of gilt, otherwise it's flaky or streaky, which was okay for my purposes.

Not gold leaf
I was expecting a product similar to gold leaf but was left a little disappointed. It's basically a layer of gold applied to a plastic sheet and it doesn't come off the plastic as easily as expected (at least it didn't work well with Pebeo gilding paste as well as gold leaf did). If you are after clean finishes when gilding (say, you need to gild a painting and you are after crisp edges) this product is not for you, but I can see how it could be used for decorative purposes.
