Just what you need
I bought this as a book for my nanan to write in. The idea of it is that my nanan writes the date and who she is dedicating the certain page to.
My nanan doesn't have long left (I don't like to go into sob stories, but it is what it is) so I bought this so she could dedicate a page to a person for them to read after she passes away.
Many pages are in this book which is useful considering my nanan has a lot of friends !! But also the fact it is a hardback means that there is less chance of pages getting bent etc. It is a perfect book for what we are doing. No one knows we are doing this bar me and my nanan. Also due to the front and back being plain black, it can be used for all sorts of occasions !

This sketchbook is one of my favourites.
The paper in the sketchbook is thick and very durable, able to withstand multiple layers of paint and ink without too much damage to the paper itself. The sketchbook is of a good size, and, particularly after it has been used a few times, lays flat on the table, which I believe is a very good trait for a sketchbook to have. The covers are thick and very durable, and, as they are very slightly bigger than the sheets of paper inside it, prevent too much damage to the paper’s edges; my last sketchbook, which is of the same brand, can attest to this - after five months of near constant use, while the cover is, admittedly, rather damaged and worn, the paper inside is pretty much unaffected by any outside sources of damage.
However, there are a few things to note with this particular brand of sketchbook. While the specific one I’m reviewing right now has not received any damage (I haven’t used it very much yet), the other sketchbook I mentioned previously has had a small amount of problems, the first, and frankly, the largest of which is the fact that the spine of the book came off. The book is still held together by the inside spine, which the pages are attached to, but the outside of it - the black cover - came off through what I assume was frequent use and minor water damage. It should be mentioned, however, that it was around four months after I purchased it that this happened, so it will be fine if treated properly. Personally, this doesn’t bother me, as it doesn’t affect the strength of the book in any way, and it is much more flexible, if anything, however I do know that this would bother a number of people who have bought - or are thinking of buying - this particular brand of sketchbook.
Another smaller problem I have faced with this brand is that it doesn’t react well to ink, more specifically markers, such as Copic or Promarker, for example. While it did no damage to the actual paper, such as tearing it or creating holes, it does soak through the page very easily, and, depending on the strength or layers of the ink, one or two pages after that also. Again, this doesn’t pose much of an issue for me personally, as I prefer to use watercolour over markers, it could be something for others to watch out for. While I don’t have a massive understanding of ink pens and fineliners and the like, there appears to be little to no issue with using those for outlining purposes; the problem is largely to do with colouring markers, to be honest.
Despite the problems listed above, this particular brand of sketchbook is one of my favourites, and I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in trying out different kinds of sketchbooks.

Excellent value for money
This item was purchased as a gift for a family member who does oil paintings but likes to sketch her ideas when they come to mind so I know it will be much appreciated.
