Double Thick Is Not The Same As Drum
Went into Hobbycraft to buy a 16" cake board/drum but found they only had thin boards and was told they didn't stock the cake drum boards (thick boards) so I was told I could order online, which I then went home and did. Unfortunately, when I went to the shop to collect it I found that I had ordered 16" Silver Double Thick Square Cake Board which is not a Cake Drum Board! it was only about 5mm thick! I was expecting a Cake Drum board which is about 20mm thick. Thankfully the shop where I had it delivered had a drum in stock so I could buy that instead, even though a week earlier they had told me they didn't stock them! Confusion all round but got what I wanted in the end and all was ok.

Good board, reasonable price
Good large cake board at a very reasonable price. Large enough to take a dinosaur cake for my grandsons sixth birthday. The low price meant I didn't have to worry about getting it back. However, it was returned to me and because of its sturdiness is in good enough condition to use again.

I used this board to make a nappy cake for a baby shower . The board was a great size and very sturdy holding a lot of weight. Would buy again.

I searched high and low for this cake board size and even the specialist online shops either did not have it in stock or when they did, it was too expensive. I went to hobbycraft as last resort and was pleasantly surprised, not only did they supply the board, they had the cake box in same size as well. They were both excellent quality as well, used for my DS Thomas The Tank Engine birthday cake, really happy.

It was good to find a board that was big enough.
Not many places have boards large enough for themed larger cakes. While this was big enough it wasn’t really strong enough as it was too flimsy for the weight of the cake. At more than a couple of pounds for a piece of card it really isn’t much to expect the card to be thick enough to retain the necessary strength.

Just what I wanted
This cake board was perfect for what I needed - I was making quite a large cake and this held it wonderfully. It didn't bend at all! The board actually came slightly scratched/marked but I was able to position the cake over the marks so it didn't matter too much
