I was using a ruler and and a piece of wood for measuring and cutting out. This was well worth the money. On one side it measures in inches and the other centimetres. It is quite large, which works well for me, and lays on my table ready to go. I am due to make some bunting and it has angles marked out on it which I am sure will prove invaluable. Mostly I am grateful that I now have straight lines.
I also have a ruler cutter that I am now using with this mat and so far it is holding up well. No obvious marks or dents. It does recommend that you cut using different areas of the board so the wear is even and extends its life. Overall very happy.

Fantastic Quality, a must have for all budding Sewing Bee's.
Fantastic double sided cutting mat, ideal for dressmaking. Don't be fooled to buy the cheaper one, it's NOT the same! The quality of this one is much better and it's heavier. It's a total must have for the markings both sides for dressmaking and quilting. The cheaper one is only one sided and lighter.This one heals completely after using a cutter on it, so is perfectly smooth for your next project. Only negative point is you may have to buy two. If your pattern is for dresses or coats it is impossible moving one about trying to keep fabric flat for large patterns.

I have looked at this every time I go into Hobbycraft and eventually bought it should have bought it ages ago I use it to go on my table while I cut and pin my material, no more pin digs in my table fantastic

Best purchase
It’s expensive but worth every penny. Using it for patchwork quilting to help me cut. I’ve been using a roller cutter and there are no marks at all on the board. Metric on one side and imperial on the other.

Decent product
Having compared this cutting Howard to the fiskers one that I have have I can compare the differences. This one has a grip to the board which is good so then whatever you’re cutting doesn’t slide around. The markings are accurate on both sides. Overall it’s a good board

Great cutting board
This is the first I’ve used a board it’s so much easier for measuring and cutting I’m thinking of getting a smaller one to so I can take it with me reasonable price easy to store .would advise others to get this cutting board love it
