Poor quality and not cream!
I normally purchase my needle-felting supplies from specialist suppliers. I’d left on a trip without packing all my colours and so ordered from Hobbycraft.
The wool was soft but poor quality and roving is normally used for topping and not a start off. Cardi is almost always the way to go for small projects and I’m surprised Hobbycraft didn’t take this into account.
Roving wool can be carded by taking off lengthwise, small slithers of the strip of wool. Do this a few times then rub it gently until it’s all combined and you’ll end up with your own carded wool. It takes a fraction of the time to felt than with roving.
As for the colour, the cream I ordered is not cream. It’s a lovely cookie or honey shade but not even close to cream. I got around this by mixing my white cardi with the cream to demonstrate a toadstool session.

Wool for needle felting
I’m just learning so cannot comment on different wools and how well they felt in comparison to each other but this works and I’ve managed to make some passable things from it. I’d like bigger bags to be available.
