These Faber-Castell Metallic Oil Pastels are the perfect starter set for anyone interested in pastels. It features 12 bright and unusually intense colours, ideal for use on a range of surfaces.

They have the typically waxy feel of oil pastels and help create a variety of effects, similar to oil painting tempera or even watercolours. The oil pastels can easily be wiped to produce an unlimited number of intermediate hues and transitions: you can use a piece of cloth or even a finger. Oil pastels are also suitable for encaustic and graffiti techniques.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Scrapmadjackie56 from Lovely mettalic sheen and vibrant colours. This was my first time using oil pastels so I cannot really comment on how they compare to other brands. I used them in an online workshop, the tutor having demonstrated a mixed media project using oil pastels. The colours are vibrant and I liked the metallic sheen but I should imagine someone more experienced in using oil pastels than I am would give a truer review of this particular brand. I personally did not find oil pastels a very easy medium to use.
