How to Make Liquid Soap
Discover how easy it is to make soap at home, perfect for gifting or personal use!
Handmade soap is a great beginners' project and it'll be a practical one too. Make your soap unique to you by adding fragrances and colours – and even a hint of glycerine for moisturising.
We suggest using recycled liquid soap bottles as an eco-friendly way to store and dispense it.
You will need
How to make
* A Fresh Embossed Clear Jar
* A Butter Soap Base 1kg
* 1 Litre Glass Jug
* Large Kitchen Knife
* Fine Grater
* Plastic Funnel
* Glycerin
* Whisk
* Teaspoon
* Liquid Soap Dispenser
To make 500ml of liquid soap.
Remove the block of soap base from the packing then cut a 250g block. Cut into smaller chunks then grate using a fine grater.
Place 750ml of water in a glass jug then place in the microwave and boil. Once the water is bubbling add in the grated soap then whisk thoroughly.
Add two teaspoons of glycerin to the mixture and a couple of drops of fragrance. Whisk well.
Leave the mixture to cool, whisking often so the mixture doesn't separate. If it becomes a little thick then add a little more water and whisk well.
Once cooled, decant into a soap dispenser using a funnel to help it go in cleanly.
