How to Make Botanical Ice Blocks
Cool down on hot days with ice cold crafts! Experiment with stunning florals and botanicals to create little decorative blocks that kids can mould, melt and more! The ice blocks are easy to make and are perfect for summer crafting at home.
This project can be enjoyed in two parts: first, venture out to forage for flowers, then freeze and play the next day! This will work with any flowers you find, and even leaves or grass.
This project can be made with storage containers, ice cube trays, baking tins or any freezable containers.

You Will Need
- Foraged flowers, leaves and grasses
- Containers
How to Make
Start by gathering up your foraged botanicals.
Place the flowers and leaves in the containers and then fill with water. Cover and freeze overnight.
Top tip: Water expands when it freezes so don't over-fill the containers.
Loosen the ice from the containers and carefully pop out the blocks.
The ice blocks are now ready for play!
Children can bash them with child friendly tools or spoons, pour water on them to watch them melt and generally find joy in their slippery-slidey prettiness!
My children favour making little makeshift cafes and creating all kinds of gourmet floral delights!
