How To Press Flowers

Remove the stems and any excess leaves or petals from your flowers.

Open the flower press and remove the top two layers of felt and the top square of fabric. Place your flowers and/or leaves on the other square of fabric, making sure they are far enough apart that they won’t touch when they press flat. Put the fabric square, and then the felt back on top of your flowers and close the press.

Place the press in the microwave and follow the instructions in the kit. When the time is up, carefully remove the press from the microwave and leave it to cool before opening it and removing your pressed flowers.

Repeat this process until you have the desired amount of pressed flowers.

Vase

First paint the vase with two layers of white acrylic paint, leaving it to dry fully between layers.

Next, arrange some of your pressed flowers and leaves on one side of the vase, starting with large flowers at the bottom, getting smaller as you get closer to the top.

When you’re happy with the layout, stick them down with the decoupage medium and then apply a layer over the top.

Repeat for the other sides.

Coasters

Paint the coasters with two layers of white acrylic paint, leaving them to dry fully between layers.

Using the free lettering template, trace the desired word onto one of the coasters towards the top, leaving a gap for a flower underneath the writing. Then use a thin paintbrush to paint over the lettering with acrylic paint and leave to dry.

If you can see any pencil lines outside of the paint these can be carefully erased with a rubber. If you can see pencil lines through the paint, add another coat, and leave to dry.

Arrange some small pressed flowers and leaves around the edge of the coaster and place one just below the lettering. When you’re happy with the layout, stick them down with the decoupage medium and then apply a layer over the top of the entire coaster.

Clock

Paint the clock face with two or three layers of white acrylic paint, leaving it to dry fully between layers.

Arrange some pressed flowers and leaves in the centre of the clock. When you’re happy with the layout, stick them down with the decoupage medium and then apply a layer over the whole clock face.

Paint the wooden numbers and the hands of the clock in different colours using the pastel acrylic paints. When dry, stick the numbers to the clock face using hi-tack glue and then assemble the clock mechanism and hands according to kit instructions.
