Wasn't disappointed at all . I'm just a beginner but I have had very satisfing attempts using all the different stitches because the machine is so easy to use . My only one gripe is that the instruction booklet could be a bit more informative . It tells you the basics but not how to counteract a problem . Being a beginner it would be helpful . Overall a very sturdy machine , well worth the money .

A nice little machine which sews quietly and firmly. I haven't quite come to terms with the needle threader but overall I'm very pleased with my purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by SuzieGirl64 Terrific Machine! Incredible Value!
I'm only a beginner so I haven't used all the features on this machine. However, what I can tell you is that it's a breeze to thread with clear instructions and the automatic threader is wonderful! No more magnifying glass! It's fairly quiet and the speed is easily controlled by the foot pedal. I had it out of the box and sewing with it in five minutes and I've only had two sewing lessons! It's light to carry but sturdy on its feet. It's my brand new love affair! Definitely recommend this machine and its wealth of features.

Rated 5 out of 5 by KayLL Simple and easy to use
As a total novice on a sewing machine I have been attending a weekly sewing class and realised that they're not as scary as I remember from school textiles lessons. My Mum has always sewed and has tried in the past to get me into it but it is my daughter (who's 6) who has really pushed me by showing the enthusiasm to Nanny that I never have. As she will be sewing independently very soon I thought I should catch up. I wanted a machine that was simple and easy to use and so far I haven't been disappointed. Here's to many years of sewing Projects.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MummaJo superb!
I've spent my entire life using my mums sewing machines... some were to fast, some to clunky, some just didn't like me!
SO recently I wanted to buy myself one of my own and chose the Janome 4400.. the reason I bought it was for the 1 step button hole.. I couldn't work out how fast she went or if she would 'dislike' me like my mother's machines!
I don't know what I was worried about... the foot pedal let's me take her slow, the button hole is great, easy to set up and the manual is very clear and very helpful!
Absolutely the best machine I've ever used.. I'm thrilled! I'm still learning how to sew (despite my efforts, mums machines made it difficult!) - but this is great.. even my 4 year old has had a go and started making herself a quilt!
I encourage everyone to own one!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Beejayh exactly what I wanted
this was a ex demo machine, bought at a reduced price. I hand embroider so I bought this machine on purpose because of the limited number of machine embroidery stitches. Its quiet and easy to use, and does exactly what I want it to do. Easy to carry, doesn't take up too much room.Unfortunately the electric cable/treadle was missing and the needle was broken, but this was soon rectified after another visit to the shop.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Hobby01 Janome 4400 - excellent buy
Bought to replace an ancient machine and to try out free embroidery, this machine doesn't disappoint; easy to thread and comes with a plate to cover the feed dogs for free seeing. Beware of the package deal with pinking shears and cover, it was cheaper to buy all three separately.

This sewing machine is so easy to set up, even for a novice, and the needle threader is fantastic for people with poor eyesight like me who find it difficult threading a needle, (even with my specs on). I've already made a wall panel and plan to do other projects around the house as well as clothing.
I would highly recommend this sewing machine for the beginner and intermediate.
