Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Machine A simple lightweight machine with easy bobbin winding, needle threader and a varied number of stitches which should suit most users. The little accessories pack is adequate but the cover a little flimsy. I've already run up a replacement cover and it took no time at all. The only downside is the manual which isn't quite comprehensive enough but what it does contain is easy to understand with clear and obvious diagrams. So far it has coped well with heavy denim and sheer fabrics alike. If you're looking for a domestic machine to make those new curtains or get those alterations done then I would recommend it. Enjoy your Janome 4400, I have.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from easy to use, simple yet great sewing machine I have owned a sewing machine before so I knew which model I wanted and I had also seen some reviews online. I am happy that I bought the janome 4400. Its easy to use and has all the features needed in a intermediate sewing machine. I was a bit disappointed with the staff in the shop, I felt they didn't know their products well and didn't seem keen to engage with a potential customer. I asked if the machine had a light ? i was told that none of the machines do!! This one does by the way. Its good i knew what i wanted .. which model etc, the features etc, because the staff didn't know and were not very helpful. But ya , a super machine to buy.. go for it!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Satisfied customer I haven't used a sewing machine for many years and wanted to purchase one which wasn't too complicated. I ordered the product and it arrived within 3 days. It was well packaged and I was notified on which day it would be delivered. I unwrapped the machine and read through the instruction book, whilst looking at the machine. The instructions are extremely easy to follow and I was all set up and sewing within a short time. I haven't used a sewing machine for years but when I used this machine, it was uncomplicated and easy to use to complete my sewing. I would recommend this machine, not only for ease of use but also good value for money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent machine for the price. I was looking for a reasonably-priced machine as back-up for my older machine which was much more expensive. I chose this one because I knew Janome machines have a good reputation, and because I wanted one with a one-step buttonhole function. I have over 50 years of sewing experience, and am very impressed by this machine. Although it's a basic machine, it has everything I need as a dressmaker. It runs smoothly and stitches beautifully. I have already completed a couple of projects with it. It's a bit lighter than my other machine, but seems sturdy. Great machine for a beginner or for more experienced sewers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super machine! A really great machine. Lots of highly useful features, such as the higher lift footplate for thick materials or for quilting (which I plan to do a lot of!). Also like the twin needle feature. Haven't needed to use the auto-thread needle threader yet but this, too, is perfect as I had a lot of trouble threading the needle on my old machine. The size and weight of this machine is perfect - not too heavy to lift and carry but also, not too light, so it stays put whatever weight fabric you're machining. The many variables in stitch type for different types of fabric is invaluable - for example, when stitching stretch fabrics. Overall, a versatile and very good sewing machine. Love it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I needed! Bought this machine after 25 years of using my older machine and am really enjoying it! Quite a basic mechanical machine but has everything I was looking for! If you don't need anything fancy this is a good starter machine with it's stitch range and buttonholer. I have used it to sew through 4 layers of Harris Tweed plus 2 layers of cotton canvas webbing and 2 of cotton which I use make my bags! It went through without any problems. It's also a nice quiet machine and hums along nicely. It does have it's little differences compared to my old machine but it does exactly what I need it to do. I hope it will keep me going as long as my old one did!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This machine is just what I needed. The Janome 4400 is very impressive. After starting with the Hobbycraft Midi - a good machine but more for kids, then changing that for the Hobbycraft 19S which refused to sew buttonholes and I returned as faulty and really, I was glad to return it as loading the bobbin meant I had to get on my hands and knees to see anything. The Janome doesn't have any of that nonsense, it's very easy to see to load the bobbin and I love the auto needle threading feature. It does a nice selection of stitches - incl. a one-step buttonhole (which I've yet to try). Overall, I'm very impressed so far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great machine for special needs learning I bought this machine for my students. I work with young people with autism and other needs. This sewing machine has easy to find large pictures of the stitches available that correspond to letters, meaning students can be supported to match the stitch pattern and be more independent in their sewing skills as they learn to use the machine. This machine is good for a beginner and not too technical. A lovely piece of equipment.
