Cable Cushion Materials:

WI Soft & Chunky in Green x 2 balls

Cable needle 

 

Fair Isle Materials:

WI Soft & Chunky - Cream x 2 balls, Green x 1 ball

Pattern Notes

Abbreviations:

k – knit

p - purl

sl – slip stitch as if to knit

C2F - slip one stitch to cable needle and hold in front, knit one, knit one from cable needle

C2B - slip one stitch to a cable needle and hold in back, knit one, knit one from cable needle

Ssk - slip, slip, knit – single decrease

k2tog – knit two stitches together – single decrease

RS – right side

WS - wrong side

MC – main colour

CC – contrasting colour

kfb – increase stitch; knit in the front and back of the same stitch

yo – yarn over

ptbl - purl through the back loop

 

Pattern Notes 

Front and back knitted separately bottom up then sewn together.

Bobbles are knitted separately – it’s a great opportunity to try different colour options!

Afterthought bobbles don’t create holes in the fabric and can be added or changed at any time.

Using 5mm needles cast on 52 stitches. First and last stitches are not included in the chart. Except from rows 1 and 90, always slip knit wise first stitch and purl last stitch of the row. It will create an even edge ready to seam using mattress stitch.

Cable Cushion Bobbles

Make 11 bobbles leaving 15cm tails on both ends.

Using 5mm needles cast on 2 stitches, leaving 15cm tail.

Row 1[RS]: kfb, yo, kfb
Row 2[WS]: p2, ptbl, p2
Row 3: k5
Row 4: p5, pass 4 stitches over the last stitch on the needle

Cut yarn leaving 15cm tail. Pull tail through the loop, pull tight.

Cable Cushion Making Up

Knit all parts of the cushion.

Attach bobbles to the front of the cushion, spacing them evenly and secure them on the wrong side.

Seam the bottom of the cushion using your preferred method. Grafting (kitchener stitch) is great to get a neat result. Joining with back stitch will also work.

Join the sides using mattress stitch leaving a 20cm gap on the side.

Fill the cushion evenly with Toy Stuffing. Do not overfill to prevent stuffing peeking through.

Close the gap using mattress stitch. Cut yarn, weave in the end.
