Cricut: How to Make a Floral Bunny Headband
If you're looking to create something super-cute this Easter for you or your mini makers, this adorable floral bunny headband is a must! It can be worn year after year – or why not just wear it every day!
Create as many felt flowers as you like and personalise with your colour choice of felt sheets.
The felt flowers are cut using a Cricut Maker and the Rotary Blade. However, the project can also be recreated using the Cricut Explore Air 2 or Explore 3 with the Bonded Fabric Blade along with the FabricGrip cutting mat.

Start by opening the project in the Cricut Design Space app using the project link at the top of this post, or alternatively use the link below - https://design.cricut.com/landing/project-detail/618663635437684dcad076e9
To access the project, copy and paste the link into your browser, you will be directed to a Cricut landing page, select 'Open' followed by 'Open Cricut Design Space Application'.
The app will open (you may be prompted to log in) and the project overview screen will appear.
Select 'Customise'.
Check everything in the project is as you would like and then click 'Make It' in the top right-hand corner.
Once through to the mat preview screen, change the white material mat to A4.
Use the three dots on the corner of the shape to move the pink objects to one mat, you may need to move the shapes around and rotate them; these should all fit onto one 12 x 12" sheet of felt.
Click 'Continue' and select 'Felt' from the material settings and change the blade in your Cricut Maker to the Rotary Blade.
Use the Cricut FabricGrip mat to cut all of your fabric sheets.
Once cut, collate the fabric pieces and set to one side.
It's then time to make the felt flowers!
Step 1: Gather the pieces for the green and blue pom style flower.
Step 2: Add hot glue to the edge of the blue piece and fold in half.
Step 3: Add a dab of hot glue to the shorter end of the blue piece and roll.
Step 4: Glue the end to secure.
Step 5: Take the green star piece and glue the base of the blue flower to the centre. Glue up the sides to the flower.
Step 6: Repeat steps one to five to make three more blue flowers
Step1: Add hot glue to the outer edge and roll the flower inwards. Glue the base to the circle at the end.
Step 2: Repeat to make three pink roses.
Step 1: Add hot glue to the outer edge and roll the flower inwards. Glue the base to the circle at the end.
Step 2: Repeat to make three yellow roses.
Step 1: Take the two pieces of the flower.
Step 2: Place the pink spiral over the beige, lining up the inner circles.
Step 3: Add a dab of hot glue to the beige outer edge and roll in, securing the end with glue again.
Step 4: Repeat to make three flowers.
Step 1: Fold four of each group of petals in half and half again.
Step 2: Add a dab of glue to one edge to secure.
Step 3: Repeat so that your have four folded petals.
Step 4: Secure the petals to the base with glue.
Step 5: Pull up the petals and glue together.
Step 6: Repeat to make three flowers.
Take two of the four white ear pieces and the two pink ear pieces.
Use three strands of white embroidery thread to stitch the inner ear pieces to the outer. Then, stitch the two front and back white ear pieces together.
Take the leaf pieces and add embroidery, to do this draw on the design with an erasable fabric pen, then use back stitch to add the vein detail to the leaves.
Erase the pen marks as per the packaging instructions, and then repeat the process with all the remaining leaves.
Set aside the felt pieces and make your headband base.
To do this, use a ruler and fabric pen to draw a rectangle that measures approximately 11cm high and 47cm long (this includes a 1cm seam allowance).
Top Tip: the fabric band can easily be adapted to suit the wearer, simply use a tape measure to determine the circumference of your head and ensure the length of the rectangle does not exceed this measurement.
Fold the fabric in half on the long edge and pin a long piece of ribbon to each side.
Pin around the piece, then stitch around the edges using a 1cm seam allowance, making sure to leave a gap in the centre to turn though.Use a sharp pair of scissors to trim the corners at 45 degree angles, then turn the band through the gap and press.
Centrally pin the ears to the front of the headband, then stitch across the bottom of the ears neatly three times.
Take the felt flowers and leaves and place them onto the headband. One by one glue the components down with hot glue.
Once the glue has set, the headband is then ready to wear!
