Great for more than just pencils.
These were great for my project, they were a little out size wise, they tapered in a little at the top so they weren't fully square, only a little so is barely visible in my project unless you know it's there.

Light weight and smooth surfaces equals a good surface to decorate. The price is reasonable too as they are likely to be decorated to make a gift.
Only drawback is that the weight is so light that they might tip, but the base size ought to be enough to prevent that. I have yet to test this and suggest you try before you buy.
