Recommend for any sci-fi model maker.
I don't sew or embroider - I work in model making.
I have found this embroidery mesh works amazingly for this purpose (especially for making floors of scenery - glued to a base, undercoated black, then drybrushed with metallic). I greatly recommend using Zweigart Premium Quality Interlock Canvas as the mesh spacing works really well in a variety from 7" scale model making - to smaller war gaming minatures (it is a case of choosing the mesh spacing that works best).

Ideal for what I wanted.
Helpful staff told me how to iron out the packing creases- steam with protective cloth. Easy to use without a frame because of its natural stiffness.Ideal for what I wanted.

Good quality canvas
A tapestry canvas that is stiff and therefore easier to work.
Ten holes to the inch is appropriate for larger cushion covers
