Although this is the usual Zweigart 14 count fabric that I have used for many years for my counted cross stitch this particular piece of fabric was not the usual excellent standard. It is very stiff and crumples badly whilst being worked and will not iron out. When you are passing the needle through the holes even though you can clearly see the holes often you really have to push hard to get the needle and thread through it is almost as if there is some sort of clear coating over the surface this also sometimes catches the DMC cotton threads.
I would have returned it but needed it urgently for an item I was making that had to be completed within days. In hindsight it would have been better I feel if I had gently washed the fabric first to see if this would help, I may try this on the leftover piece I have to see if this helps before using it again but have never had to do this before. In all my many years of cross stitching I have never had this problem with any other Zweigart fabric.
