No frame, poor instructions
I was so excited to try punch needle and bought a kit as I thought it would have everything I needed inside along with full instructions. Whilst the pattern is very cute, I was really frustrated to find that it is not possible to do punch needle without a frame as the material has to be pulled very tight for the stitches to hold. This kit does NOT contain a frame, and Hobbycraft doesn’t have punch needle frames so I have had to spend a lot more money than I wanted just to get a frame. The instructions on how to get started aren’t very clear and there is very little guidance on the best way to start. Considering the price of this kit I am extremely disappointed at its contents.

Can’t even start the kit because of missing frame
When you buy a kit you expect everything you need to complete the project, to be in the box. But there is no frame included which ultimately means you can’t start needle punching as the fabric needs to be held taught. If the packaging explained you needed a frame that would be helpful, but there is no mention, not even in the instructions. Hobbycraft don’t even seem to sell the ideal frame either, further complicating matters. This is really misleading all around!

Don’t waste your money

Confusing design/instructions
Instructions are not the easiest to understand. Thankfully found a good video online to explain what to do however it is confusing because I assume you're working with the printed side up, which is backwards so the finished product is actually the reverse of meaning the loops at the back is the finished design??
Maybe I've misunderstood that but only other way it could turn out is having a mat reading Bonjour backwards or you need to work with the printed side on reverse meaning you can't see where you're going without flipping it over.
This is my first (and probably last!) Punch needle kit, it's a killer on the hand and lack of frame makes it very difficult to do (I never knew a frame would be needed), I got a cheap small frame online but refuse to pay more for a bigger one for something I can't see me doing again, let alone finishing this one!
