Product description

Professional artists began with rough grains, smudged hands and creased brows of concentration – with this Heavyweight Fine Grain Sketchbook from Daler Rowney, the romance of creativity and design meet amidst high-quality press that’s a treat to the senses. With the strength of heavyweight cartridge and the grainy surface of tradition, this acid-free paper is a professional’s must-have.

Specifically, this pad is designed for pencils, crayons, inks and pastels in mind, bearing a thickness of 200 gsm. Exquisite texture. Fine grain. Beautiful finish.

The heavyweight paper reduces the risk of creasing that comes with long periods of sketching or paintwork that often comes with cartridge paper. Due to the durability of this type of press, this paper is capable of taking on inks, meaning that vivid finishes and intriguing colours can be dispensed with ease.

From the heavy-handed sketch-artist to the colour-savouring crafter, this pad isfantastic for artworks intended to be striking and delightful to the touch.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very heavy paper Though it claims to be 200gsm, the paper is very heavy (almost like card) this is good for watery/ink style artworks. The paper is slightly rough (which is less good for pencil artworks).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good quality paper Thick paper allows for heavy coverage without any leakage through, can take papers out to put in portfolio once completed However the papers tend to curl up once painting is dry

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ideal paper for calligraphy This paper is smooth and heavyweight - ideal for use with a calligraphy dip pen. I have also used it for pencil sketches and found it to be excellent. Light pencil marks can be easily erased with a plastic rubber without significant damage to the paper surface. When used for producing calligraphy pieces the paper takes acrylic paint very well so that the work can be illiminated. Any small mistakes with the ink can usually be scraped away with a craft knife.
