Select the items that you’d like to use to decorate your wreath, and then get started with wiring! Here is how best to wire each item:
Pinecones: Place one wire around the bottom of the pinecone, slipping the wire between the open scales. Make sure you place ¼ of the wire around the base leaving ¾ to be used for when attaching to the wreath. Wrap the wire around once or twice depending on the weight of the pinecone. Twist the wire over itself to secure. Leave the tail of the wire hanging free for attaching your pinecone to your wreath later.
Lotus Pods: Place one wire through the bottom of the Lotus Pod (where you see a little stub) pull through ¼ of the wire and twist the wire over itself to secure. Leave the tail of the wire hanging free for attaching your pinecone to your wreath later.
Cinnamon Sticks: Wrap one wire around two cinnamon sticks a few times, once tight twist the two ends together leaving ½ of the wire free.
Apples/Oranges/Lime Slices/Chilli’s: Group 2 or 3 dried slices/chilli’s together, overlapping them so that you can see the segments of each slices/chilli’s. Pierce through both of the slices/chilli’s at the base, pull each end of the wire down and twist the wires together to secure the slices/chilli’s.
With your selection of decorations using one at a time, place onto your wreath by using the long stem of wire, pierce through the foliage and pulling through to the back.
Loop the wire around the base of the wired wreath frame (this will make it secure to your wreath).
Cut away most of the excess of the wire and poke the remainder of the wire into the foliage, hiding it away.
Using your Hot/cold glue gun, use this for any smaller decorative items you have, whether it be wooden stars, smaller pinecones or single berries. Remember to leave a small space to where you want to have your bow.
Soon once you’ve filled the whole wreath, make sure you have spread them around equally and there are no large gaps. You can now attach your final touch- the bow!
Make your bow however you like or buy a show stopping glitter bow! Once finished making your bow, place one of the wires around the neck of the bow and twist the wire over itself to secure. This will hold the bow together.
Pull the stem of the wire threw the foliaged wreath to the back of the frame. Loop the wire around the wired wreath frame (this will make it secure to your wreath), cut away most of the excess of the wire and poke the remainder of the wire back into the moss, hiding it away.
Congratulations you have just made your very own homemade wreath!
