Step 1

Begin by drawing an ice cream template. Next, you need to cut out your fabrics. You will need to cut two pieces of the whole template for the lining, two pieces of the triangular part for the ice cream cone and two pieces of the scoop part for your ice cream. When cutting out the shapes, allow for a 1 cm seam allowance.

Pin the cone to the scoop, right sides together, and sew along the flat edge. Press flat with an iron. Now pin these two pieces together and sew along the sides of the cone, leaving the scoop open. Repeat this step with the lining fabrics, leaving a 2 cm gap along one of the edges to enable you to turn the purse out later.

Step 2
Using stab stitch, embroider the stitches to resemble 100s and 1000s onto the ice cream scoop fabric.

Step 3
In light pencil or tailor's chalk, draw around the purse clasp onto the top of the fabric to act as a guideline to sew around and to ensure it is the right size.

Step 4

To attach the lining to the outer fabric, open them up (they should both be inside out) so that they are facing with right sides together. Pin all the way around the scoop, and sew.

Make tiny snips along the curves, so that when the purse is turned out it will not pucker.

Step 5
Turn the purse the right way out, tucking the lining into the purse. Push the ice cream point out. Sew up the hole in the lining using a slip stitch. Press flat.

Step 6
To attach the purse to the clasp, use thread (embroidery or cotton thread). Push each side up into the clasp and use backstitch to attach it. Hide the knot in the inside of the purse.
