Step 1

Place and pin the VELCRO® brand tape to the right sides of both fabrics 1.5cm down from the raw edge of the smaller sides (top) and equidistant from the raw side edges.

Step 2

Sew around the VELCRO® brand tape in a box shape, sewing as close to the edge of the VELCRO® brand tape as you can, but making sure you catch it all!

Step 3

Sew the top edges together by placing the fabrics right sides together. The fabric that will be on the outside of the bag (not the lining) should have the VELCRO® side to the top near the stitch line. The lining has the VELCRO® on the other end.

Step 4

Sew a seam with a 0.5 seam allowance across this top raw edge.

Step 5

Open the seam up so that both fabrics are on opposite sides of each other. With right sides together, fold up each fabric side 17cm to meet the seam, ensuring to leave the overlay at the top (there is a flap overlay at the top and that's correct!).

Pin down the side edges and sew up the sides with a 0.5 seam allowance.

Step 6

Sew up the top box now, again with right sides together and leaving a small gap 3 – 4 cm close to the original seam.

Step 7

Turn the whole piece through using the small gap and press it all nice and flat. Push the lining inside the outer fabric.

Press, press press!

Step 8

Take your key-ring and slide the ribbon through the small fastening hole to create a loop.

Step 9

Slide the raw edges of the ribbon loop into the hole you used to turn it through. Then, sew it all up as neatly as you can.

Top Tip: You can hand stitch this part if you're worried about your machine stitching here.

VOILA! You now have an adorable keyring phone case to show off! You can also adjust the size of the phone case to suit your other phone and devices.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Seeing is believing! I decided to make the phone case and watched Libby Rose several times. I followed the measurements she said to the letter. There was no way she was sewing with the same length of fabric. If I had made my folds at 22cm to form the pockets, I hardly had any fabric left in the middle to form the flap over. It was very disconcerting. Fortunately, my phone fitted in if I adjusted the folds to 17cm.
