Worn out moulds of a toy
I made this in the late 1970s. Now as an adult I thought it would be nice to build it once more. NEVER AGAIN! This kit is a worn out product of the era. It was designed to appeal to children, who in those days bought model kits in their tens of thousands every year - no pc simulator games then. There is NO undercarriage bay, just a gaping hole showing the fuselage interior. The undercarriage doors are designed to open and close thus the hinges are enormous and toy-like. The undercarriage being designed to be closed or open means the oleo struts are too long for a standing plane. But worse of all is the abandoned quality of the moulding. Flash everywhere. Soft detail from weary 60 year old moulds. The fit is atrocious. It does still include the parts to fit a battery motor but this is not mentioned in the instructions. This kit is too warped and ill fitting for a child to make: this kit is too toy-like for an adult to make. I have to persevere as this was a present from my unsuspecting family. If you want a large Mustang then buy a 1/32 Japanese version and you WILL enjoy yourself.
