Not black, Not permanent
The ink is verry dark green not black, and they are not at all permanent. The ink smudges badly and takes ages to dry on all surfaces but paper. And on any surface including paper the ink will run if it gets wet even days after the ink has dried.
Also it doesn't say anywhere on the pen what it is (only the Hobbycraft logo), so it could easily be confused for a non permanent pen and mistakenly used for the wrong purpose, or overlooked when looking for a permanent pen.
I only got them because Hobbycraft don't stock the extra fine sharpies that I normally use, I will not be buying again.

Not for use on plastic
They do not mark on plastic, it's a shame this isn't stated on the packaging.
I thought these pens would be something like an ultra fine Sharpie that can write on any surface, but the ink doesn't adhere to a plastic surface (plant label) and is easily wiped off.
I don't how good this pen is on other surfaces, but it's no good for what I bought it for.

Hobbycraft S19 Sewing Machine
The machine is just what I wanted. Basic and easy to use. However I have only given it 4 stars because of 3 things:
1. Stitch length dial was fine for changing the size (forwards and backwards) but when I tried to turn the dial to where I thought the S1 selection was, it would not move. It was very stiff and I thought it would break if I forced it.
2. The Manual covers a 2 dial and 3 dial machine but I found it was not very clear re. Instructions for my 2 dial machine. I searched on Google and found a video that showed me how to get to S1. I pushed the dial harder and it turned and I found S1.
3. The stitch type selector does not line up. I turn the dial to the letter I want but it doesn't line up with the marker.
The positives are:
Compact and lightweight
Good, even stitches
Great price.
