Brother, A Scan n cut above the rest!
I love using this machine for precise cutting, it is easy to use, (just read up about it and there are plenty of tutorials online) I think the fact that you do not have to connect it to your computer or laptop or whatever is brilliant, it's a stand alone cutting machine. Just make sure whatever is on your mat is adhered down properly. It is quite quick when it cuts and gives you a 'estimated' cutting time, it can be a bit noisy but not horrifically so, (I've had noisier sewing machines) This model doesn't have all the bells and whistles, but for what I need it for that was fine. I do find you need to shop around for the genuine spare/extra mats/blades etc as the prices vary but that's par for the course with all these machines. There is a next level model to this one, this one is 'basic' compared to some, but it still has plenty of features and it still makes me marvel at how it just knows what to do, lol,

Does this cut cardboard? Or what materials can it cut?
I’m still a beginner in that at this point I haven’t tried material however I have been using the cutter for 160 weight card for patchwork templates. However, cotton fabrics are about the same thickness as the card and by using the low tack ‘board’ and ensuring that the fabric is well adhered to the board I don’t see any issues. What thickness of card can it cut please
It easily handles ordinary craft card,200-250gms on a standard blade, anything thicker you would need to use a deep cut blade. I've done some research and standard blade is 0.7mm and deep cut is 1.5mm. If in doubt I'd email Brother for more information if that helps?
