Fiddly, but an okay kit
This kit was a present. I am new to mosaics, and found it a good starting point. I was a bit disappointed to see that the tiles are plastic and not glass, but once the grout is on, it's not obvious. As other reviews say, the tiles are fiddly and quite difficult to cut. I used tile clippers and held the end inside a clear plastic bag when I cut to avoid pinging bits everywhere. A few pieces did not cut as I needed, but there are plenty of tiles supplied in the kit to allow for this. There is also more than enough grout, and I didn't need to use all the powder. It's not a kit I would buy for a child, though if they had an adult working alongside them to cut the pieces as they needed it would be fine for them to do. Overall, the kit has served its purpose and has given me ideas to make my own designs with glass tiles.

Colour VERY different to the packet
The colour on the packet is VERY different, especially the purple, which is dark on the packet, but in reality bright pinky purple. The grout also takes overnight to dry, NOT around 45 minutes.
The mosiac is impossible to complete as shown in the picture as all the tiles are square and not cuttable, whereas the picture on the packet uses tiles cut in lots of shapes.
The tiles are plastic not ceramic, which isnt made clear on the packet

Disappointing
The tiles are plastic and very small. Very frustrating trying to cut them to the small shapes needed for the antennae, gave up in the end, as the tiles just pinged everywhere when trying to cut them.

Not worth the money
Tweezers would not pic up the tiles used different tweezers and thr tiles just slid over the glue they wudnt stick

Disappointing
I brought two of these for 10 year old grandaughters. Thinking it was a kit I had no idea from the included instructions that cutting the tools would be involved. This became a very dangerous exercise as bits flew everywhere, including hitting just below the eye.
The read up above does say cutters needed so why isn’t this information in the packs. Even I as an adult struggled with cutting the tiles. I would say they were ceramic rather than plastic.
Not happy with this product at all and would not recommend.

Very disappointed
I have not returned the item as I cant be bothered travelling to the Hobbycraft for a refund.
The design clearly shows four colours of tile being required, dark blue, turquoise. purple and black. My kit did not have any black so I cannot follow the design shown. I don't want to start the kit as with the black tiles missing there may not be enough other colours to modify the design.
This is the first kit I have purchased and doubt I will by another as there would appear to be no quality control in the manufacturing.

Tools required
The tiles are NOT precut and the instructions on the packaging does not tell you that. If you don’t have tools so do this you will NOT be able to complete this kit. Very misleading. It then makes it very time consuming having to do all the prep on the tiles

False advertising. Tiles all one square size
False advertising. You can’t make that picture without somehow trimming the square tiles. They’re plastic. I have tried with a pair of scissors but the piece flew across the room. So it’s frustrating for children - disastrous if you have neurodivergent child who believes it should be possible to copy the advertised end result. We’ve put it away and will try again another time when we’ve more patience but with the understanding that it can’t look like the picture and to just enjoy the process.
